For as long as I can remember, I have compromised. When faced with a saddening or stressful issue, I tend to compartmentalize, which I think may have affected my persona in minute ways that built up with every issue and emotion I kept bottled up. Consequently, it makes it quite difficult to pinpoint a particularly sad moment when almost every waking hour is spent with a haze of sadness. On a relatively lighter note, though, I can remember a sad moment concerning my cat. I once had a male cat when my family and I used to live in Maseru, Lesotho. He hadn't always been mine, he's belonged to my neighbour at first, but they had left for India for some time, leaving the cat behind. The cat started visiting our house because we offered it food. Thus, it ended up being ours. I'd then had it for seven consecutive years before we moved to a different house in South Africa. Our cat stayed behind in our flat in Maseru and we came to tend to it as often as we could. Eventually, I decided to bring him to our house in South Africa. Consequently, he was unfamiliar with the new environment and proceed to mess inside the house since he could not roam in the yard due to the fact that we had dogs. He wasn't very used to the idea of a littler box either. My mum eventually grew impatient with his familiarizing process and kicked out one night. I was worried sick. The next morning, we couldn't find him. We looked for him for quite some time to no avail. I felt a terrible pain at losing the cat that I had grown up with. His memory still never fails to bring tears to my eyes. He will forever be missed.
