Motorways have revolutionised speedy travel between near and far places, accommodating a large number of vehicles and also allowing for high-speed movement. However, motorways also pose a threat to a number of aspects of the environment and society. Progress always comes with a few cogs, after all.

Motorways, while being a wonderous and convenient invention, pose quite a threat to the natural environment and its creatures, humans included. Seeing as these roads spread out quite a bit (width-wise), pedestrians have to find alternative routes or risk taking a chance against the danger rushing across the motorway, risking a very painful accident, death and also disrupting traffic. The environmental hazard such a large development presents cannot be disputed, either. Stretching far and wide, motorways have taken up an extensive amount of natural habitats.

Solutions may vary from person to person, seeing as innovation comes in every shape. I, however, recommend compensation for what this innovation has taken from the community and Earth. Working to produce more nature-friendly environments for wildlife, making more sidewalks and bridges for pedestrians and take better safety measures for the vehicles travelling at incredible speeds.

Innovation must not be isolated unto itself; one must look at every aspect around it- what that innovation may affect- and compensate in turn.
