Many people are consuming commercial water bottles instead of drinking tap water, why is this the case?

Do you think, it is a positive or negative development?

Write at least 250 words

Since the news of contaminated water spread around the globe, and drinking water is proved as the main reason of some fatal diseases, the trend of relying on commercial water is swelling. The development of being conscious when using water, the main source of the human diet, is positive but being fully dependant on privately sold water could have some negative impacts on society.

Understanding of pure water and its assessment is more important than spending energy on the decision of its source. In other words, we are spending an enormous amount on purchasing standardized water but we hardly know the minerals and PH required for pure water. Like many other cities of Pakistan, in Lahore, a city of more than twenty million people, a huge majority is relying on private companies to fulfil their drinking water requirement. Irrespective of their brand and price, they feel that each bottle containing water is pure, but the case is different. Hundreds of unregistered companies are selling water and there is no check on their product. In the end, the users should be enlightened to understand the quality of water.

If there is a clear shortage of drinking water, it sounds convincing to use commercial water. Firstly, the amount we spend on medication after becoming ill is more than the cost of water we purchase from the market. Secondly, authorities should take some steps: for instance, they could subsidise the standard water if they can not construct water purifying plants, or they need to redevelop the sanitary system of the cities, which is, in most cases, difficult.

In conclusion, we may assert that, in our context where a high percentage of masses is living under the poverty line, the fashion of conforming to the emerging trend of consuming water could financially damage the people.
