Writing Task 1 – You should spend about 20 minutes on this task || (minimum words limit 150)

You recently bought an item of clothing from a shop. You discovered that it had a fault and returned it to the shop for replacement or refund. However, the assistant told you that this was against the store's policy.

Write a letter to the store manager, explaining the problems you have had. Ask for a refund or exchange on the item.

Response 1

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you with regard to an item I purchased from your store that I found to be faulty. Upon realizing this, I attempted to request a refund, only for that request to be denied.

A few days ago, I inspected a pair of expensive but lovely shoes in your store and decided to buy them. Upon going to till to pay, they gave me a boxed pair of said shoes. I opened them a day later only to find that the laces from one of the shoes were missing. I went back to the store at my earliest convenience. Meeting the store attendants once more, however, I was not at all satisfied with the service offered. They blatantly refused to grant me a refund or even a replacement, claiming it was against the store's policy. I ask you, is it not against the store's policy to sell faulty items to your customer's? If not, I am sorely disappointed with your store's overall quality.

I would humbly like to request a refund or exchange once more. I would be much obliged if you were to honour my request and keep from tarnishing my consistently positive opinion of your store.

I hope to hear from you very soon.

Kind regards,
