Writing Task 1 – You should spend about 20 minutes on this task || (minimum words limit 150)

You saw an advertisement for a tennis course in England but you have one or two problems and can’t stay the whole course.

Write a letter to the course director. In your letter,

  • Explain your interest in the course

  • Describe your problems

  • Find out if a refund is possible

Response 1:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I was immensely pleased to read in the newspapers about the tennis course you're offering in England. As it so happens, I am currently staying in London for a few weeks.

Sports has always been a large area of interest in my life, as I consider myself both an intellectual and an athlete. Tennis is among the many sports I particularly enjoy because of the amount of concentration, stamina and strength it requires, as opposed to sports that simply require speed and brawn.

I came to London for my vacation and I am delighted to see that the course will start while I'm still here in England. I would love to join the course. However, I will not be able to stay for the entirety of the course, considering that fact that I will have to return to South Africa to continue my studies. I will be able to partake in a fraction of the course- at least ten days of it, which I would be glad to have had the opportunity to do, nonetheless. I hope you will allow me the honour of participating in your course, or at least a fraction of it.

I hope to hear your positive response soon.

Kind regards,
