Being the extremely socially awkward person that I am, I have experienced countless embarrassing incidents in my life. One of the highlights of some such moments was when I was asked to give a speech for the very first time. It was during one of the daily religious classes that my siblings and I attended. After we'd all completed our obligatory lessons, our teachers started discussing the upcoming event that our religious school would be hosting, an event at which we would be asked to compete in quizzes as well compete with the quality of our speeches. I was asked to stand up and read from a small booklet as a way to begin preparation for that night. Having the severe social anxiety that I do, my heart immediately started pounding as blood rushed to my ears and face. I stood in front of the class and could barely look at anybody's face. I then proceeded to open the book and take a look. However, upon opening my mouth to get out the first words of the booklet held in my hands, my voice simply failed me. It was as though a fist was clenched around my vocal cords as I tried a few times to get the first words of the speech out. My class fellows and even my teachers could not hold back their laughter at my vanished voice. I was absolutely mortified as my mouth worked in an effort to get the words out. After a few failed attempts, I simply gave up and took my seat. That, as you can imagine, was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life.
