Letter - Sample 19

Text Box

Writing Task 1 – You should spend about 20 minutes on this task || (minimum words limit 150)

You have a full time job and are also doing a part time evening course. You now find that you can not continue the course.

Write a letter to your tutor. In your letter,

  • Describe the situation

  • Explain why you cannot continue at this time

  • Say what action you would like to take

Response 1:

Dear Sir,

I would like to inform you that I will not be able to continue with my art course at present due to lack of time and job-related issues.

Having a full-time job while studying part-time is a scary enough prospect in itself; however, adding 'part-time mother' to the list makes it scarier yet. My full-time job as a biomedical scientist is highly stressful and requires a majority of my time and attention, as it starts from eight in the morning and ends at eight in the evening, not to mention the work I have to complete at home, as well. The only time I get to complete assignments and study-work for my art course is after midnight. Now, however, I have to cook for my family before leaving the house, as well, since my mum has started working as an Islamic teacher at a nearby mosque and would like for me to take over a marginal amount of her chores. I am often left grasping at thin air for time, rest and a regular eat, sleep and work schedule.

Suffice it to say, I cannot continue with partaking in this course at present and will have to drop it for a while or I'd love to cancel a section or two from the five sections of the art course I am busy with at present, so as to thin out the work load and give me more time with less deadlines to contend with. I understand it could take a longer amount of time to complete this course, but I'm willing to risk that as opposed to completely discontinuing it, as art is one of my many great passions.

I hope my requests are met with a favourable response.

Kind regards,
