In some countries an increasing number of people are suffering from health problems as the result of eating too much fast food. It is therefore, necessary for governments to impose a higher tax on this kind of food.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
Write at least 250 words
By the advent of this century, the consumption of fast food, the main reason of obesity and other health related diseases, is beefed up. To overcome this growing addiction, the idea of imposing more tax on junk food sounds least productive. I strongly denounce the suggestion of imposing more taxes on the food.
In actuality, imposing huge taxes on fast food does not make any sense to curb the ill trend. Whether or not a huge tax is imposed on junk food, it has no effect on the eating habits of people. It is observed that the elite stratum of the society has a lion share in eating fast-food such as, burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, etc. On the same page, it is a kind of financial assassination of the restaurant industry selling fast food. Consequently, many workers could become jobless. However, the emerging trend can be stopped by taking some other measures.
By using modern ways of communication – health-related programs, spreading awareness at grass-root levels and changing lifestyles – are more reasonable ways to resolve the issue. Such steps could help in altering the bad habits of utilizing junk food. Media always plays an influential role in aggravating and reducing the swelling trends of a society. In this context, magnifying the advantages of a healthy lifestyle and threading masses from the adverse effects of high intake on TV will definitely cut the frequent consumption.
Driving back home, we may assert that in the presence of loads of reasonable methods, imposing heavy taxes on fast food is nothing but insanity.
