Writing Task 1 – You should spend about 20 minutes on this task || (minimum words limit 150)

You eat at your college cafeteria every lunchtime. However, you think it needs some improvements.

Write a letter to the college magazine. In your letter,

  • Explain what you like about the cafeteria

  • Say what is wrong with it

  • Suggest how it could be improved

Response 1:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Our cafeteria, as patriotic as I am, is not as reputable as it once was. Among its many good qualities, it has fallen behind in the quality department.

The cafeteria used to be a lot of people's happy place, or at least a place they could relax and depend on the fact that they'd receive good service and good food. The cafeteria used to be many students' respite for years. I would love the cleanliness of the utensils, benches and the quick service. The menu was simple yet perfectly versatile, containing everything from sundaes to steak.

Now, however, the quality has taken a severe pitfall. The utensils are often lacking and of a lower, more fragile quality, the service is much slower, the benches and tables are not well-kept in the least and half the menu is often not available. I strongly suggest investing in your equipment as opposed to the frivolous displays of advertising and to hire faster workers. Please do pay close attention to what food resources need restocking to keep this bad reputation from growing.

I hope my suggestions are met with a positive outcome.

Kind regards,
