You are unhappy about a plan to make your local airport bigger and increase the number of flights. You live near the airport.

Write a letter to your local newspaper. In your letter:

  • Explain where you live

  • Describe the problem

  • Give reasons why you do not want this development.

Response 1

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you with regard to current national talks of expanding the nearby airport. I strongly disapprove of said plans due to various reasons.

I am a resident of the city who lives right outside the airport, close to the park located close to the airport, as well. In the area, I might add, that they plan to expand the airport over. The part contains immeasurable numbers of small animals and a vast, unviolated terrain in a city of so much pollution. Would it be reasonable to destroy that?

The flat I stay in also houses at least a hundred other people residing in its apartments. This is home to a number of hard-working middle-class folk that make up the backbone of society. Demanding that these many people uproot their lives for the airport's whims is entirely unreasonable. The airport's sudden desire to expand their runways to house an extra plane seems quite moot when considering the fact that there are already a good many planes there. Such things seem insignificant when considering what stands to be lost in the process.

Please do speak up for the community.

Kind regards,
