### Part 3: Discussion Topics

#### **Ideas and Education**

1. **Some people think that education should be about memorizing the important ideas of the past. Do you agree or disagree? Why?**

   *8-band answer:*

"I disagree to some extent. While memorizing historical facts and ideas is essential, education should also encourage critical thinking and innovation. Students should learn how to apply the knowledge of the past to solve present-day problems. Simply memorizing without understanding or questioning the context doesn't foster growth or creativity."

2. **Should education encourage students to have their own new ideas? Why?**

   *8-band answer:*

"Definitely. Encouraging students to think independently is crucial for personal and societal progress. New ideas drive innovation, which leads to advancements in various fields like science, technology, and even social development. When students are motivated to think creatively, they can bring fresh perspectives and solutions to modern-day challenges."

3. **How do you think teachers could help students to develop and share their own ideas?**

   *8-band answer:*

"Teachers can promote independent thinking by creating an open and supportive learning environment. Encouraging discussions, debates, and collaborative projects can stimulate creativity. Teachers should also challenge students with thought-provoking questions and provide opportunities for practical, real-world problem-solving exercises."

#### **Ideas in the Workplace**

1. **Should employers encourage their workers to have new ideas about improving the company? Why?**

   *8-band answer:*

"Absolutely. When employees are encouraged to contribute new ideas, they feel more valued and engaged. This can lead to improvements in efficiency, customer satisfaction, and overall business growth. Companies that foster innovation from all levels are often more adaptable and successful."

2. **Do you think people sometimes dislike ideas just because they are new? Why?**

   *8-band answer:*

"Yes, this happens quite often. People are generally resistant to change, especially when they're comfortable with how things are. New ideas can be seen as risky or threatening because they challenge the status quo. However, with the right approach and communication, new ideas can eventually be accepted."

3. **What is more difficult: having new ideas or putting them into practice? Which is more important for a successful company?**

"I think putting new ideas into practice is more difficult because it requires planning, resources, and sometimes overcoming resistance.
